I been hearing about how Firefox performs better, how it has new features, etc. I also seen the known issues. Should I still get Firefox 3 RC1 or should I wait until the next version?

IE7 is pretty good, and has visible tabs. IE8 I'm unsure about. IE7 is easy to use, and doesn't have all the browser clutter, unless you download toolbars.

FF, I don't use much, but I can't seem to open .swf's with it.

No, the full (gold) release should be out in a month or two, so it won't last a long time.

one example of why to prefer FF over IE:
If you used Internet Explorer dlc_kidd would have an obnoxiously huge avatar. While people on firefox would only see max of 180x200

Might as well use it, there is no downside to it. Just use this version and wait till the newer one comes out, or the one that you want.
