An error box popped up saying that there were missing parts needed to run this system properly. Those files have been replaced with different ones. Please insert the windows xp package 2 cd. I did a virus scan with avg and avast. Detection nothing. If I put the cd in, will it do a reformation because I really cannot handle that right now.

If it would help, could anyone post what those windows programs that are needed to run the system are called and where they are located. Thanks a million.

It won't reformat unless you tell it to. Just stick the CD in and select Repair, your computer is probably missing a few Windows system files.

It pops up for me to, I have Win XP Cooperate edition... It comes it sometimes... but if you press restart on your computer and get a dos error saying missing dll, then its more serious... just ignore the error if your computer is running fine.

If you put it in and press repair, it will scan it for missing files and just re-add them. If that doesn't work then you probably have the most advanced virus in the world, or maybe you do have a SMALL missing file that isn't allowing you to use your computer, but if it's that important, I think the CD will fix it.
