In case you didn't know, you can browse the internet from your desktop, without opening a thing.

Here's what I have:

Right click on your desktop and choose properties.

Go to the Desktop tab and press Customize.

Go to the web tab and check google (or press new to use whatever site you want).

You now have a browser on your desktop, behind your icons.
You can move and resize it, plus some other nifty stuff.

That may come in use a lot at home..does it use extra RAM or anything?

It will definetly use less of everything. Since you have less features (tool bar) and things lagging you down.

Edit: if you click on a link or for an example type something in google, a new Internet explorer window pops up..

Am i doing something wrong?

It actually causes more lag for my desktop when I used to do that. I would have IE and Photoshop open and photoshop wouldn't lag. And when I did it on the desktop, it made photoshop lag like a bitch.
