If he has the nVidia 8800GT, then go to nvidia, download the driver.

if he has the <some brand> <some model number>, then go to <some brand website> and download the driver.

Open the tower and look at the chips on the board if it is Build in Audio and Video.
If it is not on board look at the cards it has installed.
Also on boot you should see a model number of the mother board, or you can look on the board itself as well.

It says it on the graphics card usually. Or maybe use CPU-Z to find out what the card is.
