Do you mean Cross Site Scripting or Cascade Style Sheets? CSS is only for changing the appearance of the whole site easily no other use of it. XHTML is like HTML but more cleaner and stricter, kinda like a hybrid of xml and html -> next generation of html.

Hey, im a web developer.
I have a small suggestion for you on how to get started.
You already know HTML, so thats good.
I suggest you start your own Apache 2.2 Webserver and add PHP and MySQL to it.
Then find a guide about PHP, soon as you know the basics, get into advanced things like MySQL + PHP working together.

I see SQL as a database computer language which is mainly used in the web and as it is so widely used it is good to know. As a programming language i see c++.
