I do not like norton myself, it misses allot of things. I personally think avast pro is an excellent anti-malware tool with nice features like boot time scan and on-access scanning and picks up allot of things and takes up little space and little usage of cpu when using so it does not slow your pc down. You can get the free home edition one from like download.com but its not as good. I think it is pretty user friendly as well but its different for everyone I suppose.

only 2008+ is good because they addressed the huge consumption of memory. It still misses ALOT.

Misses alot. Bloated. Fail.

I reccomend ESET's NOD32.
Light. Great. No bloated multi-suite bullshit.
You need to remove it if you intend to play Half-Life X[-X], Portal, etc...
You will get restarted. [Applies also to AVG and Symantec].

For a free application, try AVG (or ZoneAlarm/BitDefender if it is free, can't remember).
For an applicatoin that you have to pay, I would use ESET NOD32.

it is an AV. It protects from downloading some files and removes viruses and scans and all other AV things.

No, it isnt Keyword "spyware" It is a spyware scanner.

There is a newest release of it saying "with antivirus", I seriously doubt it can even keep up with the shitty AV's such as Panda and AVG.

Nod32 FTW!
Bit defender is good but a serious resource hog from hell.

BTW what the hell, was avast started out as a media player or some shit lmfao. GUI = Epic fail.

no avasts default skin simply looks like that, you can change it but who gives a damn it is pretty user friendly and it does its job and then some as one of the top free anti-malware with very nice features. Easily the first choice for a secondary anti-malware hands down and overall could be a decent first choice would not hurt.

The best are usually commercial ones that you have to buy. Check the sticky for useful tools and scroll down and take your pick.
