Everyone says vista is so horrible. But why is it bad? I mean seriously, anybody got reasons?

It is not so much that it is bad, more like it is new. They have not yet worked out all the bugs and probably were looking for some answers to problems they had that only live customers could give them before changing things. It is not just Vista which I explained in the XP vs. Vista thread, but all new operating systems. Even XP started out like this but give it time and Vista will be to official superior operating system for Microsoft.

| It uses more ram and slows down your computer... this is exactly what happened to XP vs windows 2000

It does not exactly slow your computer down just that it is more demanding than XP thus requires more powerful equipment to render advanced features. Minimum memory recommended is 2GB anything less it is foolish. Nothing less than a mid ranged core duo. It will run smooth if you build your pc to run it and I am not talking about spending 800-1000$ you can do it within reasonable prices.

Point proven
It demands more use of memory than xp
Why? Because it slows your computer down thus you need higher system requirements to run it normal.
So it will run on xp faster regardless if you had 8gb of ram
It also renders pointless features..... jsut a cool layout thats all and gadgets. Which google does for you.

I suppose in time as I said it will be better but one truth holds as of now like Chase has stated all benchmark tests between XP and Vista have shown Vista not any more faster than XP only requires more resources to run (and you get the bugs they have not worked out yet like the problem with running certain programs) and if you have peak hardware like quad core and high end video card....the works. The actual speed increase of Vista to XP is so small it mine as well still be the same speed. So as of now there is no reason to get Vista except for the visuals if your into going through the trouble and bragging right I guess though its not worth it. You want a beautiful system that runs great use macs new leopard otherwise stick to XP.

| Vista doesn't just simply use more ram, it makes better use of all of it.

RAM is astronomically faster than your hard drive, superfetch caches commonly used programs / shit into RAM, the performance benefit is obvious. Vistas method of memory management is far superior to XP's.
Yes, you can disable it, but doing so is stupid.

That is very true however the actual over all performance of the entire system is not that much greater and the cost is higher than the gain. Keep in mind Vista's Superfetch does not effect applications that run their own memory management. There are many variables and few of them scream out get Vista now.

Yes, many people will get vista in the future, I will to when I buy my new PC I am planning to get.
But yeah, hopefully the bugs will be gone by then...
