I saw this video on youtube that says third generation of fiber optic cables would send 10 trillion bits per second. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMcfrLYDm2U watch the part @ 5:10

holy crap
10'000'000'000'000 Bits/s
or
1250000000000 Bytes/s
or
1220703125 Kilo Bytes/s
or
1192092.8955078125 Mega Bytes/s
or
1164.15321826934814453125 Giga Bytes/s
or
1.136868377216160297393798828125 Tera Bytes/s

JUST IN ONE MOTHER F*CKING STRAND OF FIBER OPTIC CABLE : imagine theres 50 strands in 1 whole cable!!!!!!!

EDIT: fixed calculation error

Comcast uses Fiber Optics, Verizon uses Fiber Optics... Neither come close to a gb/s. Well atleast home users never reached that.

Not all servers will give you a multi-GB/s transfer rate. You'll probably see the best results with a torrent, if the peers have a fast upload connection.

we're not going to see that kind of speed anytime soon.

100mbp/s is realistic within a few years, however.
