No he doesn't mean an 8-core CPU madman, he means a multi-processor system, which would require a dual-cpu socket board. There is an asus one that springs to mind, last time I checked it cost £180gbp, dunno what that equates to in USD, probably about $350-ish
But I don't know if you'd be able to stick 2 quad-cores on there.
Such equivalent systems use multi-core Xeon's and such for the server computing. |

Skulltrail LGA771 platform designed for Intel Core 2 Extreme. It accepts both CrossFire and SLi.
Using dual CPUs isn't very efficient, you barely get any more performance going against one CPU. And of course, you're throwing $600 into a motherboard (but you can find it at Newegg.com). _________________

The only thing i can think of is a server board... Used for servers... Which handle more stress than your computer... times a billion... _________________

| Yes but it's slower than a processor of the equivalent power in one piece. 4+4 will not equal a single 8 (core). The time it takes to organize both of them makes it less efficient. |

That depends entirely on the board and system, and what purpose they are been used for.
Just because they are seperate doesn't mean its less efficient. Sometimes an arrangement like that works to its advantage. |
