yes?
open the little slot on your camcorder
put the cord in
then connect to USB

then your computer should recognize it, and suggest to use windows movie maker to record i think... im not sure

I've always used Vegas -_-

If it's an analog camcorder that doesn't have USB/1394, the only way you're getting it on the computer is via a capture card with Composite/S-Video. They can be had for as cheap as $20-30, but you have to play the tape then record it on the computer, so 1 hour of video will take 1 hour to transfer, etc.

Unfortunately due to licensing issues it's hard to find a program that will convert from Quicktime.

I don't have much knowledge and experience in this thing because I don't really use video. A firewire port is something that very recently is becoming integrated into computers. It's like a usb port but kinda pentagon shaped. Video cameras and stuff like it have like a direct connection from the camera to the computer. I don't know if cassette tape camcorders have this or not.

Firewire has actually been around for quite a while, it's just only recently become popular on PCs (Macs have had them for years.)

Since Firewire is basically the same thing as USB, just faster and has a few more features, an analog cam won't have it.
