Sometimes i leave my computer idling while i sleep, and when i come back, sometimes, it restarted. How do i know this? Because GRUB selected linux instead of Vista.
This really sucks and i have no clue how to stop it/why it is happening...
Ideas?

Could be a power issue if it is spontaneously rebooting, although I think a software issue is more likely. Its very common for a windows machine to only show symptons at the welcome/logon screen, but there can be many different causes. Spyware is a common one. It maybe be worth uninstalling the PC clean of drivers (probably through safe mode if at all possible) then re-install them. Try to clean-it up a bit in general too. I had a similar issue to fix the other day, and it stemmed from a virus corrupting a few things. I hope thats not your case... good luck

Yes, it did restart. It went idle for a while (in windows), restarted, and booted up again. How do i know? Because it didn't boot up in Windows, it booted up in Linux (default).
Unless my computer figured out how to do that without restarting, it restarted.
Also, i formated my hard drive a few times, reinstalled all the OSes ect... And it is still crap!

Points more towards hardware then, provided you don't keep sticking tons of software back on after install, making it difficult to pinpoint any potential issue there...

Bam look at your "Event Viewer"
It should have logged what happened.

Does that always happen or only once a month or so ?
(It could be the windows update that can force you to reboot)

If you look for the warning and maybe more importantly the errors that might be shown.
It could relate to a service or driver that might be causing problems.
Windows update will be shown under application logs, so that might be worth a look.
Also, I would go and right-click on my computer, and go to the advanced tab. Under startup and recovery, click settings and untick 'automatically restart'. This will stop your pc from rebooting should a BSOD occur, then you can see if it is a fundamental driver/OS issue or if its hardware related.

could be some sort of power saving scheme configured to kick in a hour after being idle. Those don't always work (e.g when my system goes to sleep, I always end up missing my c:\ drive, luckily my windows is on d:\ , and my other system just completely freezes)

To check if it is what Dark Byte just said;
Go to your desktop.
Right-click, press 'properties'
go to the screensaver tab.
Push the button labeled "power"
_
It should say it in that area.
@Dark Byte:
If I went to the Netherlands, would you give me your address?
=D

I'm not too sure, don't have Vista.
I'm sure with some searching around in the control panel, you'll be able to find it, though.
