To make it short,
you got this address, It's for example an health address. as CT.
You Create a cool design for your trainer,
and you add this health address as read,
so you see this space on the trainer, where it display's the current value of that address.

Your health is "100"

Just to make the trainer look proffessional Razz

Is that a suggestion for CE's trainer maker then, or just generally for people to code that into their own trainers?

Well you can do any of that if you code it yourself.
But heres the deal.

Reading from an address is really only good for some thing like auto heal or for a bot to know the HP, Auto heal would only be good if you can actually poke memory to it and heal yourself.

As for it being visible, the trainer is behind the game most cases, so your not going to see your Hp read display anyway.
But it can be done !

You can't do this in CE's trainer maker no.
Lab means you can do it if you code it yourself...because...well, you have the freedom to do that.
You can get a CE trainer up with a value box that allows a user to change the value in a certain address, but thats not really interactive at all.
The user puts the value in, then presses the hotkey, and then it writes the value into the address. Its just the one way.
If that was considered there would be things to take into account such as, how often do you read from the address in question?

half-offtopic:
Code:

address:
readmem([pointeraddress]+offset,4)

is a valid script which you can use in a trainer to set one specific address to the value of a pointer (might be usefull)
