Well I have a laptop and a desktop. I wanna upgrade the ram on both. The laptop is SDRAM and the desktop is DDR1... Anyone want to find some ram sticks for both? And could I even open up my laptop anyways? Not a computer techie...

Your laptop may most likely have a small screw on cover you can take off.

This will reveal some RAM expansion slots.

As for your desktop, as long as you have space or are willing to exchange the current ones for new ones, its just a case of searching around to see where you want to buy stuff from.

I didn't want people assuming I mean DDR2.

Run this on both and give us the results so we know what you can take.

First off, check if you have room for some new RAM.

I suppose you mean SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory) as SDR RAM (Single Data Rate Random Access Memory). And just call DDR1 as DDR.

Moving onto the serious stuff, use the Crucial System scanner that SaviourFamily provided. Then go to:

Here for SDR laptop RAM. Make sure to select the correct speed.
Here for DDR desktop RAM. Also make sure you select the correct speed.

As for price, I don't know how much for the SDR, but for the DDR, I got 1GB for around $30 (which is really high compared to DDR2 prices - about 3.5 times more for the same category, budget RAM). Oh, and lower latencies equates to better performance.

Generally if you're gonna be cheapy... DDR ram will give you better timings, better latency, as opposed to DDR2 (which is of course a higher memory frequency...basically...). If you clock up the memory frequency on RAM you increase the minimum timings that you can possibly have.
But for all intents and purposes and what you want, don't worry about memory timings and latency unless you want a headache and no noticeable boost in performance Smile
Crucial is a good site for checking what you can have, but don't buy it from them.
