Download a program that monitors the temperatures and turns it off if it goes to overheat.
MBM5 (Mother Board Monitor 5) does that.

If your board isn't listed (like mine) use another program just to monitor it. I use SpeedFan. Over 70 Celsius and it would be a good idea to turn it off and let it cool.

computer coolant? Rolling Eyes

i doubt you'd ever manage to build one yourself, so it's obviously pre-built, it's fine unless you bought it from an alleyway and it's built out of a bits of playstation2 plastic and chopsticks.

You don't wanna go spraying anything anywhere...lol Sad
Hope he's not serious...

SaviourFamily put up a good tool. I use speedfan a lot myself amongst others. Its good to get an idea of what temps your components actually are at.
The utilities read the values reported by the on-chip thermal-diodes and display them nicely for the user.
Certain temps aren't 100% accurate, but they do give you an idea.
A lot of people are paranoid...most times the components are operating 'well' within limits Wink

I thought CPUs newer than Pentium IIIs and Athlon 64s automatically shut down after getting too hot. My computer is on for 16 hours and it's fine, even with overclocked hardware on stock cooling.

They do, its thermal throttling.

And leaving your computer on for extended periods does not necessarily mean it will continue to rise in heat. Depends on the airflow you have to all the components and condition of your fans.

My PC is on sometimes for a few days at a time, and it is perfectly stable. PC's are meant to work like beasts, thats the whole idea, and it should run as such Wink

if you got a pentium III (or higher) or a AMD athlon 64 (or higher) it will turn off if it is too hot
when that happens usually cleaning the cooling is enough
(mainly let some water run throught the passive cooling [metal block with much gaps])

Ya they do auto turn off.
The CPU (X6800) in my laptop got to about, oh, well, about 80 C and it shut itself down.
(I was on it and I had to go help my mom with something, and it took longer than I thought, and I had laid it down on the couch (and all the vents are on the bottom and were being blocked) and when I got back SpeedFan was freaking out and as soon as I put it on my lap, the laptop just auto shutdown. >.>")

Yes it needs more cooling. After the 10hr mark it gets really hot for no apparent reason, so you should dump water inside it to be safe.

You're all way to obsesses about cooling.... like OMFGZ!!! My PC is sooooo slow...so I took the sides of and dunked it in a sink full of water, then sprayed it with some liquid nitrogen, and replaces standard cooling with Water Cooling....

Hehe...
