Reasonings:
Monitor: You may ask "Why pay more for a smaller monitor?". I'll say this quickly: 2ms(GTG) is as good as you can get for gaming. Using a 5ms monitor would probably lead to ghosting if you're playing a very graphically demanding game such as Crysis.
Case: I'll admit, I'm totally biased to love the Antec 900. It's just that it has a huge amount of fans, allowing for great overclocking and gaming potential.
CPU: With the Antec 900 providing great cooling as it is, you could probably OC this piece to about 3-3.2GHz.
RAM: What can I say? RAM is cheap. You might like to order 2 of these, but even if you're playing Crysis, even with Vista, it'll still use only like 1.5GBs at most.
GPU: 8800GTX will run anything at the highest settings with a very decent frame rate. There's no need for anything better at the time being.
Mobo: Yeah, I'll admit it's a little cheap... But who cares? It'll support everything here just fine and it's the highest rated Intel mobo on Newegg.
HDD: It's not the best, but, hell, who needs more than 500 gigs? Unless you download a gig of porn an hour, this is just fine for whatever you'll need it for.
PSU: Very highly rated; will run everything here.
DVD Drive: It's a DVD drive. Not much else to say.
Totals out to $1385.47.
If you wanted to expend your full $1500 budget, either get a 9800GX2 GPU or a better Mobo, but I think for just a "high end computer", this works very well. _________________

I have a 5ms monitor and ghosting is almost completely unnoticeable (and it's especially hard to see in games) outside of looking for it after an hour or so of using it. I've used 16ms dell's before and they look fine.
Why would you get a 8800GTX of all available cards? 8800gt destroys it in price / performance. |

Thank you Zarr, so very much.
If it wouldn't be any trouble could you tell me what mobo you would suggest? |

I've looked into it and the 8800GTX performs just slightly better than the 8800GT. I suppose I hadn't researched enough. I'll see if I can, under the 1.5k budget, get a SLI supporting Mobo and 2 8800GTs. _________________

Question is, do you really want to push that $1500 budget? Sadly, SLI supporting Mobos are usually about $250, meaning SLI-ing 2 8800GTs is out of the question.
If you really want to push the $1500 budget, I think you could probably slip an 9800GX2 in there. 9800GX2 is by a long shot the best single video card out there if you're playing a SLI supporting game, as it uses 2 "cores" in 1 card. The biggest downside? They were released only a week or two ago, so they're still almost $600.
I'll be quite frank about this, however; you probably won't need a 9800GX2. Many people are saying you'll only get a couple more frames per second than an 8800GTX.
In descending order of performance and price, choose one:
9800GX2
8800GTX
8800GT
9600GT _________________

Well then I suppose I'll stick with the original draw up you have. Also, should I still get the mobo for supporting SLI and with supporting SLI is there any other products that need upgraded aswell? |

If you go ahead and get the board you previously posted, you wouldn't have to change anything; it's a very good board. Plus, if you do get the SLI supporting board, if you ever have enough money to get another 8800GTX, you can slap that in there and completely rape any game ever made for another 2-3 years.
Also, out of curiosity, what OS will you be running? _________________

Either Vista or XP. Still debating. With the current game I'm playing(Wurm Online), Vista seems to be giving the game heavy problems. So, I'm still debating.
Also, putting on the mobo I posted before, wouldn't be a bad idea and keeping everything in your build just switching mobo would still be in my range. |

XP. Vista is too crap at the moment, unless you are only bothered about the aesthetics. Microsoft release SP1 to rid it of the bugs and compatibility issues. Guess what? They fixed some and created more!
XP for at least another 6 months for anyone considering otherwise.
Vista will not be for a lot of people. In fact some are dead set on skipping vista and waiting for the next OS |

What resolution are you going to play? If you don't know, what monitor size are you going to play on?
8800GS > 9600GT at low resolutions (1440x900 and below, 19")
9600GT > 8800GS at high resolutions (1680x1050 and above, 20")
8800GS > 9600GT in overclocking (in percentage overclocked)
8800GS > 9600GT in price
You won't really need an SLi board if you aren't going to SLi, but if you still want one, you can take a look at the 750i. CPU is hard to choose right now, processor technology is moving at "break-neck" speeds, 6-core CPUs will be out in about 3-4 months (with 16MB of L3 cache, burns through everything). But a quad core should serve everything you need now. 2GB of RAM would be the best setup. HDD size should be 200GB or more, speed 7200RPM or above (for faster loading times). For the PSU, I think a 300W would be the danger zone (because it will barely supply enough power), 400W should be okay, and 500W should be more than enough (what you should get, or maybe a 600W). |
