Don't worry, its not the one I use for "work". I am currently reserecting an "old" Pc to use for gaming. Note that it is not old it all, it has a sick new video card, loads of RAM, and HD space. Anyway, it can be extremely slow, and I mean it took 2 days to install vista/xp with no breaks. There was extreme lag with keyboard/mouse, and it is unusable. Thats why im fixing it rather then getting a new PC. But do you have any ideas why its so slow?

Are you sure the RAM and video card is compatible with the motherboard?

Chances are if the RAM/video card weren't compatible he wouldn't even be posting, let alone getting to install windows.
Seems to me like either something is faulty, or yes, one of the other components you haven't mentioned like CPU are under-spec'ed

He said that it is his gaming computer, so he can post from his working computer...
It could well be that your RAM and stuff arent compatible with your mainboard, I would check that first...

Its its not compatible he would get error bleeps from post, or random crashes, not just a slow-down.
Heat, faulty hardware, or a more major software issue are the likely ones

RAM and motherboard might not be compatiable. No, I'm not posting on that pc, it would take about 5 hours just for me to log on, another 2 to open up the internet, and so on. I also remembered that the HD's got very warm, and theyre brand new. The same thing happened with the old ones.

Did that happen?

No, none of the components in the CPU are burnt, or ever smoked.
Could it be the fan?

maybe some capacitors blew out, and it can't store much power.
if that happens then get another capacitor from some random PCB board, make sure it has the same voltage and uf. then solder it onto ur mobo

Errmm just get a new mobo is that is the case.
By the way, I have never seen a motherboard or RAM for that matter "smoke n' shit", it just doesn't happen.
A power unit in an extreme situation yeah...but seriously... :p
