Thanks, on system requirements lab it says my pc is 2.21ghz rated at 3.50ghz

so which is it really?

It means your 'actual' CPU speed is most likely 2.21 Ghz, thats your clock speed/effective speed...however you want to refer to it.

However, you have a performance rating of 3.50Ghz, which tries to take into account performance optimizations of newer AMD/Intel processors and the fact that it may be dual-core etc (2 logical CPU's).

Go with what it says in regards to the CPU. Look at the 'performance rating' it gives you if thats what you mean.

At the end of the day, no-one can tell you what to get for your own PC. It depends entirely upon what you want to go for and what it will be used for etc.

Still go with the perf. rating though. It turns out to be more relevant when deciding what it will run.
At this time though, a dual-core CPU will give you performance benefits, thats a given. Most stuff is optimized for dual-core now, conversion programs and games for example most certainly are.

right now i actually am happy what im getting out of this system.. its really fast for me.. never had any problems with it..

thats why i thought upgrading might be a good idea

You could think about it the other way though mate.

You said it yourself about it been fast enough for you and it seems to be doing what you want.

Theres not much point upgrading unless there is a real pressing issue to do so. Its stable and fine as it is like you say.

You'll probably get more hassle than you initially wanted...if its a new mobo for example you'll need to re-install new mainboard drivers etc when it is all built back up...and its just one of those annoying things you will maybe wish you didn't do, as it wasn't completely necessary Smile

You can run every single game out there right now. But at low/lowest possible settings with that high resolution.

Intel:
C2D E4500: $130
IP-35E: $60 (after MIR)
1GB RAM: $20

AMD:
Athlon 64 X2 4400+: $65
GA-MA770-S3: $85
1GB RAM: $20

It's more like $200

I for one do rate this board:

GA-MA770-DS3 (its DS3 :p)

Thats if your not bothered about sli setups or crossfirex.

If it was an upgrade though superweapons, I wouldn't go for a mere 4400x2, something like a 5600x2 is decent for the price point. And the idea is to upgrade to 2Gb ram, not stay at 1gb. Decent performance OCZ RAM @ 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 timings will set you back about $55, which is hardly a lot considering how good it is.

Stick with your current rig for a while longer. You're virtually talking yourself into it NeverForgotten Wink

Wont quite upgrade atm now..

It is doing me very good.. it actually feels like a dual core to me instead one single core

Crysis at the absolute lowest settings, then maybe it will run at a playable frame rate. Even my horrible (OC'd ATi Radeon 9550) can run Crysis (at 1024x768), though at an unplayable speed.

Changing your monitor for the purpose of running the game in higher resolutions is pointless for you at this stage mate. Like superweapons said, it would be too much for your system at much higher than 1024x768, for instance, with crysis.
Remember, that a monitor isn't going to take any load of the PC, it is relying on the graphics card heavily to process the frames ready for display Wink
