I want to get a Video Card that supports playing Team Fortress 2
| Recommended Requirements wrote: | Recommended:
Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better),
1GB RAM,
DirectX® 9 level Graphics Card,
Windows® Vista/XP/2000,
Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
|
My current statistics:
I know I need to get a new video card, but I don't know anything about video cards. My brother can install it, I am sure, but I need to know which would be a good one to get.
Price Range:
$35 - $65
I can increase it a bit if needed.

Is their some type of compatibility needed for computers? Because I'm afraid that I get an expensive video card, and my computer won't work with it... Is their some way to know which Video Card will work?
(Does it have minimum CPU requirements)

| Check what kind of slot your motherboard has for video cards, AGP, PCI or PCI-E. And use GPU-Z to get more information about your video card if you want.

How do I check that?
Here is the link to my computer on hp.com.

EDIT:
The link you gave me says PCI:

Yeah I looked up a tut on Video Card installation and it explained everything. I have decided to upgrade my computer in some areas.
This is what I have:
EDIT:
Is their some type of extra power I will need for a newer video card? I saw on youtube a guy talking about a video card and how you need a better power supply for it.
Does this one need a good power supply?

You provided the same link for the video card and the power supply. I'm pretty sure you won't be needing a new power supply though. It's not like your installing anything that will suck up the power badly.

Assuming that GuM has correct information (don't feel like checking), you can only use PCI cards, which will really hinder performance. Even though you will have to stick with a PCI card (unless you choose to replace your motherboard), one of the top-of-the line PCI cards will probably be able to play TF2.
The video card you selected is not compatible with your motherboard. It has to be PCI, and not PCI-Express.

This one should play TF2 somewhere around low-medium, maybe.
As for power supply, you probably won't need a new one, only mid/high-end graphics cards actually utilize that much power (also because of the PCI-Express 6-pin).

| performance will likely be horrible unless you're running the worst settings imaginable.

That's not what my friend said. He has TF2 and he says this card should run it perfectly on high.

hell. no.
FX series cards were so awful in DX9 it was ridiculous. They even default to DX8 in source engine games.
Try 5-10 fps on high settings.

Then what card do you recommend for a PCI only motherboard?
60$ range

I don't think you'll be getting much better.
there are GeForce FX5600 256MB's floating around, but you will be getting abysmal performance either way on PCI.
