His code was fine as he was using ( ) call is needed. If you remove the call you have to remove the parenthesis as well.

thank you but none of these are working i am trying to code this as a mac or pc application

and is it possible to use macs xcode for this

I'm not sure if VB6 is designed to work cross-platform. I've never seen anything explaining how to make something work on Mac that has been written in VB6. If you are looking for multiple platform development, you should really look into learning C/C++
