On the step where i put in the number for the installation ex. xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx, my sticker instead says,US-xxxxxx-xxxxx-xxx-xxxx and thats it. I got this free vista cd when i bought the laptop, maybe thats why its not working? iono. The sticker on the back looks like this

| if you're sure you have a legitimate key, microsoft will usually give you a different one if you're having trouble. that's strange though, try contacting your manufacturer.

What he says is completely true. If you actually have bothered to pay for Windows (lol) and have a legitimate key then there is no reason for it not to work. If you have a different key then that's probably because they may have been a problem with the previous one or perhaps it is an a serial for upgrading to a version above your current one?
Like slovach said, if you got a problem contact the manufacturer, they always seem to help people out quite nicely as far as you products are real.
