Hey, I am currently testing out ArkLinux on my old REALLY small GB laptop. Also if that goes well i might want to switch my Windows XP to Linux, but Im not really sure on all that linux does and is, could somebody please help me out? I know Im not giving that mcuh information and I sound like I know shit abhout computers, but I just need the help. Would it be a stupid Idea to switch XP to Linux and can you help out with the stuff up there? Thanks alot. Sorry for sounding retarted and being lost Embarassed

Depends what you are going to do. If you wanna play games, fuck linux. If you just want to piss round / write documents etc, you might as well try Ubunu or whatever distro you want.

No, jsut music, internet, IM, stuff like that. Do any emulators work on linux?

If you get Wine you can run Win32 programs on linux.

I just asked the support guys about this and they said yes itll do some, but I should only do it when necessary. Thanks. I will probably be switching to Linux tommorow =)

Yesterday (really yesterday) i was in WIndows VIsta

I was really Happy

Today i"m on Ubuntu

I'm fucking suprised, i haven't imagined it could be so GOOD
Everything i have needed is here !
You DONT Need to emulate anything as anything already exists.
You can still do it with your favorite games, i'm actually with a fully functional steam platform.

Linux is alot faster then XP. You also don't have to worry about viruses.
If you just want to surf the internet and do normal crap, use ubuntu.

If you're looking for lots of apps then stick to windows.

^ Check sourceforge and ubuntnu repo for LOTS of apps... There is probably a mirror of everything that windows has... Photoshop, Gimp... AIM/MSN, Pidgin... etc etc

and if there isnt you can most likely run it with wine.

There's quite a few bugs and crashes though. I find windows a lot more stable than Ubuntu but I do miss the compiz cube =[.
