Depends what you are going to do. If you wanna play games, fuck linux. If you just want to piss round / write documents etc, you might as well try Ubunu or whatever distro you want.

Yesterday (really yesterday) i was in WIndows VIsta
I was really Happy
Today i"m on Ubuntu
I'm fucking suprised, i haven't imagined it could be so GOOD
Everything i have needed is here !
You DONT Need to emulate anything as anything already exists.
You can still do it with your favorite games, i'm actually with a fully functional steam platform.

Linux is alot faster then XP. You also don't have to worry about viruses.
If you just want to surf the internet and do normal crap, use ubuntu.
If you're looking for lots of apps then stick to windows.

^ Check sourceforge and ubuntnu repo for LOTS of apps... There is probably a mirror of everything that windows has... Photoshop, Gimp... AIM/MSN, Pidgin... etc etc
and if there isnt you can most likely run it with wine.

There's quite a few bugs and crashes though. I find windows a lot more stable than Ubuntu but I do miss the compiz cube =[.
