I explained C++ and C++ .Net in the other thread you asked.
Delphi is way different from C++ as far as i remember.
It's been a while when i used it (Borland Delphi 7)...
Delphi is a quite powerful language and comes with nice ready to use components and GUI tools.
ASM is a low level language.
It's as close as it gets to direct CPU commands programming.
Mainly used for disassembling and patching but people program in it as well. Just remember that it takes a lot more work to do simple tasks than a high level language (HLL) would take.
VB6 is old and outdated but nice for simple applications.
Though it requires runtime files for the end-user and that's why it's not used for major commercial style applications.
It's nice for little apps and comes also with nice GUI tools and ready to use components.
C# is my favorite.
It's (in my eyes) a mixture of VB.Net and C++
Powerful and really easy to use...
Like all .Net languages it comes with a nice and easy to use GUI to place your buttons and such and create a good looking and powerful application.

| The downfall to managed code is speed and the fact that whoever is going to use it, needs the framework. (which is downloaded in windows updates, so it's not really that big of an issue) That and you have to jump through hoops to get to the lower level stuff.

Yes... You can even use ASM to write programs but it'll be a pain in the ass starting from scratch.
@slovach,
Please write a for loop 1 to 40k or so.
Use queryperformancecounter and see how fast bother are.
It's just a small difference...
But yes for .Net you need a framework but it comes with Windows Update and will probably come with SP3 version of XP coming out soon.
Not that you'll have to wait for SP3 to come out officially.
90% of the people got Framework installed and if they don't you can just include the installer with your application

C# has a bit of everything
I highly recommend it to everyone...
In my eyes it's a good base for (application-)developers.
