I want to create a program that installs some files in your program files, anybody know how to do this?

pack the files as resources and then writefile...

Use a freeware installer like Nullsoft's.

Winrar and NSIS are nothing alike. NSIS is a complete install system. Winrar just creates a folder where things get extracted to. Which will not do much for certain things that need to be done that an installer will do.

if i program some resource deployment exe, what do i have to do to make sure the "program" i extract gets onto the Add/Remove Programs list?

The Add/Remove programs list is handled via the registry. The key that holds this info is found at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Look at some other programs that are in that list to check out what keys you need for your program.
