iPod Linux:
Pros:
None, its too annoying to install
Cons:
the installer... Its either manually install or nothing!
Rockbox:
Pros:
Supports over 25 different mp3 players, including ALL ipods that iPL can do
Has mpeg player for all mp3s including ipod nanos and other things that can play videos
great support channel on IRC
Helpful guide
Simple installer
Customizable themes
You can play gameboy games
Supply you with over 15 games and 15 cool effects
Cons:
None so far... Except the database refresher...
Original iPod Firmware:
Pros:
Easy to use
Cons:
HORRIBLE SUPPORT!
If you would like to add me (especially to iPL) please post here! _________________

iPods are used for music. Thats all you need out of an iPod.
I choose Original Firmware. _________________

i have linux and original apple OS dual booting on my laptop lol. apple OS for music, linux for games, movies (which my ipod doesn't usually support) and other extra junk, but i haven't used linux on it for a while. btw my ipod is a 1st gen nano and it took me about a day to get it to all work and get the right installer (the latest one wouldn't work, ipod crashed alot, etc lol).
also, i think i was going to install rockbox onto my ipod but it wasn't going to be worth it, took me too long to get my ipod how it was lol.
[off-topic] all my stupid rep is expiring and now it's negative, WTF! _________________

Does rockbox have support for .ogg?
Encoding from one lossy format to another is apparently a bad idea, but I never noticed a quality difference and you save an assload of space. |
