| First of all, upgrade your ram, then processor. You might need to get a new motherboard to handle yuor new processor. I suggest you get a Core 2 Dual processor.

i don't know why he'd need to put vista on his computer, it has to be his choice if he wants to upgrade to vista. and i especially don't know why you suggested norton...that is the crappest anti virus around!

1) ATi Radeon's don't suck. I would use the ATi Radeon 2600 XT HD 512mb over an nVidia 8600GT any day.
2) How can you get a TB of RAM? That simply isn't possible (yet).
Get Vista. Since you are going to the computer for gaming, you should get this so you can get the latest video games that will be coming out exclusively for Vista.
Also, I prefer you get an nVidia 8800GT 512mb. High end card for a mid-range price, depending where you buy it. Also, you might want to get a good PSU. I saw a 600W PSU for about $45 + shipping on TigerDirect. That should be more than enough.

more ram, yes. i have 3 gigs of ram and my computer runs perfectly with it.
say no to vista for now. get XP.
and norton sucks balls. get something like NOD32 or mcafee. I have mcafee and it does not slow down my computer. it combines everything in one. and a 200 gig hard drive should be plenty if your only going to game on it.

lol just get a new pc.
Cuz u will only end up with the case..
If u buy a new cpu, u have to change mainboard. If you change mainboard u have to get DDR2/3 RAM. (the chances that u have RAM2 is high, but mainboards that supports DDR3 ram ONLY support DDR3, not DDR2. REMEMBER THAT!1!)
That will use some Watt, so get a PSU atleast 400W.
If you want to play new games u have to get a new graphic card.
Or just stick with ur comp right now...

Well that's not exactly true, yes, DDR3 slots do not support DDR2, but some motherboards have separate slots for DDR2 and DDR3. Therefor, some motherboards that support DDR3, also support DDR2.
