Hello,

I'm planning to ditch the vb6 "winsock.ocx" because it sucked but don't know what APIs/libraries to use in other languages which do the same job - any ideas?

Umm are you asking for the API instead of the OCX or asking for a similar thing in another language? Kinda misleading in your question. If you are looking for the API instead of the OCX, you can find it here:

There are tons of examples there using the API instead of the OCX.
