I am using MSVC++Express Edition 2008 on a Vista Business OS. I recently made a program in Win32 C++ and wanted to distribute it among my friends, but they have told me that the executable could not open and the error is something like... incorrect application settings, try reinstalling the program to solve the problem.... My friends are using XP at the moment, and does the problem have anything to do with the OS I am using? Can anyone provide me with some advice? Thanks in advance.

This error usually happens due the way you link to the runtime library. Try adjusting the setting to staticly link instead of dynamically.

In the project properties, you can find this setting under:

Configuration Properties -> C/C++ -> Code Generation
Runtime Library

Multi-Threaded (/MT) = Static link.
Muti-Threaded DLL (/MD) = Dynamic link.

As to what appal linked you to to have your users install, that should fix the error as well so you do not need to statically link. The size increase from statically linking isn't that much of a difference so it's something to keep in mind as well.
