check your CPU temp in the BIOS

if its 65C+ might want to fix it with an aftermarket cooler.

Yes, if you want something that does nothing beneficial, just, as a program, uses more RAM obviously, go for it. I especially love the RAM "defragmenters", truly blows my mind that that actually exists. The "R" in RAM stands for random, meaning it can read from it in random parts without any slowdown, so there's absolutely no reason for that. Not that I can imagine how RAM would even get fragmented...

You've probably installed a lot of programs, uninstall things you don't need.

Defragment your hard drive.

Look into adding more RAM if necessary.

As DB said, check your temps in your BIOS, restart your computer and hit F1, F2, DEL, and ESC repetitively, you should find your temps in there.

you probably think this is stupid but what exactly is defragmenting? i know how to do it and all and stuff but what exactly does it do and help with.

In a nutshell, reorganizes data on the HD so it doesn't have to jump all over to retrieve bits and pieces of stuff and rather have it all nicely layed out and quick to access.

Fragmentation is caused by new files on the volume which are saved in the next available space. After a large portion of the disk has been used, most of the files and folders are saved in pieces across the volume. Now, when you delete files and folders, the empty spaces left are randomly filled by new files, which is the cause of fragmentation.

And basically, as Slovach said, defragging will reorganize all the files.
