1.) Is not an excuse, the google search works perfectly fine.
2.) Just because you dislike something doesn't mean you shouldn't use it.
3.) Common sense. Think of your question. Pull pieces from it to search for.
And by me saying search before asking, I don't just mean these forums alone. I mean google entirely. This has been posted all over the net for years.
