| Coming from experience, about $10,000 a month, and that's in my small town of about 14,000 people. You can easily charge $40-45 for a full OS reinstall. It's harder than you might think though.

Data recovery. People don't believe data loss could ever happen to them, then it does, and I get stuck fixing the issue. Try changing the platters on a drive without breaking it, it's not that fun.
OS reinstalls when you can't find the model of a part, the company is no longer in business, or it's a discontinued and unsupported part.
Actually, OS reinstalls period because people always seem to lose their windows disc, and you have to jump through hoops to restore it legitimately.
Laptops and anything to do with fixing them, they're a bitch to work with period.

A computer technician needs to know a helluva lot of shit, and you have to be certified I believe, so..be ready to pay for a college about that shit.

Lol..nah..if you think it's easy, you're fucked.
I already work as one, not professional, but I've encountered 2 problems where me nor my boss has been able to fix it.

yeah it's not always as easy as you think, especially when you're working with a really slow computer. i'm still in school (only 16 years old) but when i have to fix my relatives computer or do something on there computer i hate it. it's like 5 years old and it's slow as hell. it takes me hours to just install programs back on and formatting theire computer and installing all the drivers and programs back on, internet, email settings, and these things are just basic, can take over a day because of how slow this piece of crap is. and time is money so you don't want to waste all day on one thing that won't get you paid much.
those of you who think formatting is easy, which it is, can lead to so many more problems. you can't just format a computer and give it back without drivers installed and leaving it unable to connect to the internet or anything.
