You shouldnt really get Nvidia

8800gt, $209, I'd recommend saving a few more bucks and going for that if you can, it will eat that 8600 for breakfast.

All of those have a very poor price/performance ratio. If you look hard enough you can find an x1950pro for about $99, which will be significantly faster than a 2600xt or 8600gt, dunno about the gts.
