Should I download VB 6.0? Or this visual Studio 2008?

Just choose yourself;
and you could take in mind that VB6 is unsupported and old, and the .NET Framework makes things easy.

VB 6: No .Net, less bloat than 08 (still lots), shitty language.
VS 08: Has .Net, lots of bloat, shitty language.

Lose - lose situation.

You wont find anything other then negativity about VB on these forums.

It mainly depends on what you plan to do with Visual Basic when you use it. VB6 will get things done with a little more ease and less a bloated overhead as it does not have the .NET framework. As Flyte said, it is unsupported and discontinued as well since VB.NET was released.

If you plan to learn the language for a career and use it later in life, go with 2005/2008 as it is the currently used version of the language.

C# has a shit ton of support going for it, and it's no harder than VB if difficulty worries you.

Might want to try it.

Do I have to learn regular C first?

You don't need a book, you can just use MSDN or Google if you get stuck. Plus, C# is pretty easy.

There's C# information everywhere, just google it if you need anything.

.... if you wanna make something out of your programming language, like a career as programmer, then you're practically down to 3 different choices,

C++ // C# // java

and according to some of my co workers when I worked as an assistant programmer (summerwork), C# is the best thing to learn if you want a job.

If you are going to create trainers or bypasses, then I would go for C or C++
