I just thought I'd give everyone a heads up.

If you have Windows Vista, DO NOT INSTALL AIM 6! Get trillian or something if you must use it, but don't install aim 6. It messes with a vista management utility called "Windows Management Instrumentation Control" or WMI, which can really screw up your computer.

A few things that got messed up on my computer are things like some games running half life 2 engine, my sound got all messed up and finally gave out over time, along with a few other things.

I've heard a lot of people saying that they're media center doesn't work, along with other media programs and another main error is vista says that you're not connected to the internet, but yet you can access it. All 'cause of this, "incompatibility" problem.

If you have vista and aim 6 installed and not showing anything wrong with your computer, i'd check to make sure, one way of checking is to go to start and type in "computer management", push enter, click the arrow by "Services and Applications", right click on WMI Control and select properties, if it says something like "Successfully connected to: <local computer>" you're probably fine but I'd advise you to uninstall aim before something bad happens, on the other hand, if it says "Error connecting" or something you're kinda screwed, There have been 2 ways so far that people have been known to fix it, details here
When it happened to me, i tried fixing it, but it was too long ago that i installed aim that the restore didn't work, and the other fix I tried, but it didn't work, so I ended up having to rebuild.

Better Advice

1. Do Not Get Vista.
Reason : Many programs don't work on it, Microsoft is trying to be too secure and they fail. Vista is all GUI and nothing else.

2. Do not get AIM 6. Get 5.9 with DeadAIM. AIM 6 is all GUI and takes up too much ram.

I'm not trying to give advise, just trying to warn/help people that HAVE vista and HAVE aim 6.
