Should I have my thumb protruding from the neck/almost curled around the neck (What Jimi Hendrix and what this DVD told me to do) or should I have it resting on the back of the neck as a lot of people do (guessing) because I've seen it done that way and 2 beginning guitar guides online say to do so.

So, which one?

I find that pushing on the back of the neck gives you a better grip. I guess it depends on what you are playing.

Heavy stuff where you do alot of chords id say push against the back.

More complicated stuff Id say over the top because It allows you to move more freely.

Overall I prefer the push over the overlap.

I see. Thanks for your input. If you're advanced/intermediate at guitar, can you tell me if having my thumb over the top will pose any problems in the future? Or should I just start out with the push and stick with it.
