I was working on a cheat on the game Drug Wars. I set a value to 0 and the time that was supposed to changed just disappeared. Text and other such dealing with it. Not sure what I did, but tried setting it back, didnt work. closed then reopened it, didnt fix it. closed CE and DW and just opened DW, still messed up. restarted my comp, no fix. uninstalled and reinstalled and still no fix... could someone help me, thanks.
**EDIT/ADD** #3
Seems it works when ran as Administrator... yes i know vista sucks... tho i also seemed to cause the same problem when ran that way, but somehow fixed it, but only when ran as administrator.
**EDIT/ADD** #2
Considering i made a back up of the game before i messed it up and even its not working, maybe i messed up a process or DLL file or something somehow? maybe a registry key?
**EDIT/ADD**
thing that gets me confused is why is the game staying messed up? shouldnt it reset after i close it and/or CE ?
now i'm gunna make a guess as to what might be wrong. tho i know practically nothing about this stuff. From messing around it seems like a Window isn't loading? my guess is i changed something that blocked the window from showing... and all i need to do is rebuilt the path. tho it still doesnt explain why after a reinstall it doesnt work...

I had something like this happen to me with another game. The way I fixed it was by reinstalling the game. Couldn't figure out any other way to fix it since I didn't know what caused it to happen in the first place. So you will probably be best off by reinstalling.

Every day I'm more and more glad to not have Vista. Cheat engine cannot cause something like this to happen as far as I know. CE edits memory addresses, not game files. Sound slike a vista thing, but any version of windows will cause weird things to happen.

yeah i already tried reinstalling it. seemed to only fix the problem when run in administrator, but the standard non admin way is still messed up.
yeah i know, it makes no sense to me. but the problem happens when i set a value to 0 before i've gotten the item thats controlled by the value.
My guess is one of vista's security features saw a glitch and disabled something. tho i really have no clue about that, a complete guess based off of nothing.
i even went through my registry and removed almost all traces of the game. that might have been what fixed the Admin version. hell, even my back up of the game is messed up, never even touched it with CE.

CE can cause it to happen depending on what you are editing in memory. The game might be saving the section that you have altered to a file which can in turn corrupt the file if you have altered it with invalid data.

| hmm... so how do i go about finding out what file i corrupted? tho i uninstalled it and reinstalled it. so i guess it has to be some common file. and if u know anything about vista u can run things normally or in Administrator mode, and the game works fine in Admin mode. just a pain to do.
