Every time I try to play Portal/HL2 my computer fucking crashes.
WTF.
My specs aren't an issue.

I had the same problem with my old computer which kept rebooting/crashing to desktop while playing source games (HL2, CS:S).

I bought a new computer and it was solved.
You might want to update your video card drivers.
