I guess you could use the registry to see if they entered a correct serial in the past.

you mean like make it so that a program would stop working after a certain amount of days? or trys? if so theres this site that does it for you with top security but you need money.

Trial program = program that you get for free that runs for a certain amount of days (usually 30/31) and once the time is up, it asks you to register. I suggest the first poster's suggestion.
