|
|
Well here's my problem:
In several games I'm trying to "Find out what writes to this address". When I use this function once it usually works. I get the information I want and go on. At the moment I'm playing around with FarCry but when I add a pointer to my table and try to use the "Find-out-what-writes-to-this-address"-function again on this pointer it causes a crash of the game. The problem is that I really need to know what writes to that address because it changes every time you start the game and I simply don't want to search it every time. In the CE-Tutorials this function worked perfectly but some games just cause crashes.
So my questions are:
- Does someone else experience such errors?
- Does someone know how to solve these crashes?
Here's some information about the CE I use:
Version:
- CheatEngine 5.3
General Settings:
- [X]Show undo button
- [X]Show advanced options
- [X]Update the list of found addresses even after scanning
- [X]Center Cheat Engine when bringing to front
- [X]Hide some/all windows instead of trying to bring ce to front
- [X]Show values as if they are signed
- [ ]Show and work wirth binaries as if the arer decimals
- [ ]Simple copy/paste
Scan Settings:
- [ ]Fast scan on by default
- [ ]Enable Hyperscan when possible
- [ ]Don't scan memory that is protected with the No Cache option
- [ ]Keep low memory usage when doing an "Unknown Initial Value scan" with Hyper Scan
- [X]MEM_PRIVATE
- [X]MEM_IMAGE
- [ ]MEM_MAPPED
Code Finder:
- [ ]Use Debug Registers
- [X]Memory Access Exceptions
- [X]Try to prevent detection of debugger
- [ ]Handle breakpoints not caused by CE
Assembler:
- [X]Show disassembler
- [X]Show debugger options
- [X]Replace incomplete opcodes with nops
- [X]Ask for replace woth nop
- [X]Try to prevent detection of the debugger
Extra:
- [ ]Query memory region routines
- [X]Read/Write Process Memory
- [ ]Undo changes to CE
- [ ]Enable use of the Process Watcher
- [ ]Use kernelmode debugger options when possible
- [ ]Stealth mode (Usermode)
- [ ]Stealth mode (Kernelmode)

Heres the reason why I read this
I seem to have this problem too. Many flash and shockwave games I tried with have give errors and taunted to crash. After many failed attempts I discovered it would have to do with debug register's in Cheat Engine.
Solution
Thanks to Dark_Byte and my own common sense, I knew I would have to tick debug registers on fixing throughout this problem. After doing this I got instant results with debug registers and no errors at all.
Conclusion
Cheat Engine needs the debug registers to work on games and different sorts of memory. Without it the process would crash and you would fail to hack. Another problem solved with a little common sense.

'Debug Registers' is in the Code Finder part in the options, it should be ticked, if not, it's the first one there.

Yea but, since I have signed up and logged in for the first time after getting my activation code, the only date I see on posts, etc. is my birthday......
So I couldn't really tell when it was posted....unless it was from 1992

Actually, I used the search option and thus couldn't know which page it was on O_O....
Anyways, do you know how to fix my date problem and we'll end it with that?
