Posted: Mon Jul 16, 2007 7:08 pm Post subject: CE won't compile "movss [esi+00000084],xmm0" |
|
|
I'll explain everything first.
The code I'm wanting to change is
00424782 movss [esi+00000084],xmm0
Simply replacing it with a few nops works (does what I wanted it to do ingame) through the code list options, but actually assembling the line (for disable reasons) "movss [esi+00000084],xmm0" doesn't work, I get "This instruction can't be compiled".
I'm guessing it's the xmm0. Is CE not recognizing the xmm0 as a register? That's what it is right? If not, what is it? :\
Also I need to know if this code will work in the first place, I followed Labrynth's tutorial, and I wanted to try out using codecaves (though it's not really necessary for a nop code I guess).
I want it to jump to the code cave and just do nothing instead of.. movss'ing my xmm0 lol.
| Code: |
[ENABLE]
label(zomgreturn)
00400248: //big empty codecave
nop
nop
nop
nop
nop
nop
nop
nop
jmp zomgreturn
00424782: //almighty writing address)
jmp 00400248
nop
zomgreturn:
[DISABLE]
00424782: //original
movss [esi+00000084],xmm0 |
Anyway, my problem remains: CE refuses compile
"movss [esi+00000084],xmm0"
WHY!
On another note.. without the codecave, I would just
| Code: |
[ENABLE]
00424782:
nop
nop
nop
nop
nop
nop
nop
nop
[DISABLE]
00424782:
movss [esi+00000084],xmm0
|
It works, but only if I don't include a disable option, as long as I leave movss [esi+00000084],xmm0 out, CE will compile it fine.
SO, my ULTIMATE question out of this horribly written post:
Why won't CE compile that little line of code that exists within this game and how can I go about compiling it including the code?

| Try using 'db' if you're sure it's a valid code.

Holy crap, what kind of processor do you have?
I think it's a 128-bit XMM register...

Pentium 4 and Xeon processors
128 bit register.
(switch xmm pane to "byte" view)
MOVDQU XMM0,[DQWORD_VALUE1] ;give 1st tester values to XMM0
Google is your friend:
