There's just NO. FUCKING. EXCUSE! for using that shit. It's malware. It tries to trick the user into installing SHITWARE.
There's a very simple rule that will help you decide how to earn money with CheatEngine.
1. DON'T BE FUCKING ASSHOLES!

Nice introduction of yourself ...
But keep two things in mind: Most common antivirus programs already disable the OpenCandy setup (OCSetup.dll) because it's known Junkware.
And if not, then you can still untick all the checkboxes and won't have any additional software installed on the computer.

If you had taken roughly 1 minute to read the download page you would have realized downloading the installer with OpenCandy is an option.
That, and this is how Dark Byte keeps this site up and running. You realize none of this is free right?
Not to mention the amount of bandwidth is needed to have people download tables for free.

opencandy has strict rules about the advertisement screens they let in.
if you uncheck the options it will not install anything at all
(and you can download a version without it as well. )

You say that you can download 2 versions RIGHT?
So what you're saying is that if someone doesn't download your version with open candy then you give them a half ass version that you striped the driver and features from because they didn't download your open candy version. In other words you strip out the driver and features to I guess punish someone if they don't download your version with open candy.

no, that is from an unrelated topic where dbk.sys is marked as a generic trojan, i havn't done that yet.
You can download a fully working version of ce from the website, without installer. it is 100% fully working (except no automatic .cetrainer/.ct extention linking, or default cheat table folder creation. And some driver cleanup if you did an update)

OpenCandy is an ad platform. An AV that automatically deletes a program using OpenCandy is an AV that doesn't know the difference between a delivery platform and the actual stuff it serves.
Which is a pretty bad AV, seeing as decent AVs have known the distinction for 25+ years.
(I mean don't get me wrong, I don't like OpenCandy myself, but...)

You guys know cheat engine is open-source, right ? What this means is you can download CE's source and make CE yourself the way you want it.
Opencandy is the nice guy of PPIs, it however can't protect from stupidity.

Which would require to also compile the source of lazarus for yourself, since the latest CE source cannot be compiled by using the latest stable lazarus version.

Hm, I'm not sure I really got what you want to say with that, but I appreciated that my AV program automatically moved the OCSetup.dll into the quarantine as soon as I ran the installer ...

Not quite true. Install newest Lazarus 1.6, you have to modify only few lines and it will compile it.

It doesn't take much to code an AV these days apparently, just block any other program except your own from accessing system functions and call it a virus and you have yourself a great antivirus. The idiots using it are going to think it's really good at catching "viruses".
A little common sense would protect you far more than the combination of all AVs combined and you can also get to enjoy your PC resources at its max.
My friends and acquaintances call me sometime to help fix their PC and it is always ridden with malware and other kind of crap, you know what the funny thing is - there is always a fucking antivirus installed that doesn't do anything to help but slow the PC down even more. Makes you wonder what these AVs actually are useful for.
