Part I - Firefox Explained
Firefox is a browser from Mozilla. It is regarded as the IE-challenger (or IE-Killer, if you want). Liked for its features and addons (see below), it has become a phenomenon. It has set a world record for the most downloads in a day, and has very quick patches. With every release, nothing changes much except some patched holes. Apart from that, what else do you have to hate about Firefox? It's quite popular too. I bet that at least half the users of this forum use Firefox. Get your copy of Firefox here and experience the difference. And while you're there, why not check out their other software? They're good and secure too.
Part II - Addons
Yes, there are many addons out there for Firefox. But which ones do you really need? Before you continue:
Addons denoted in green are for Firefox 3 only.
Addons denoted in blue are for both 2 & 3 and may include even older versions.

IE Tab
IE Tab is an addon that allows you to visit IE-only sites in Firefox i.e. Windows Update. DOWNLOAD
faggot Plus
Block all those annoying ads on web pages. Also supports Flash and Java blocking. DOWNLOAD
WOT
Ever wondered which sites are good and which ones are bad? Then this is the addon for you. Note that registration for WOT is required after installation. DOWNLOAD
Flagfox
Did you know that all Google sites regardless of country are hosted in America? If you didn’t, this is the addon for you. It will crawl Whois, GeoIP and many more services to determine which country the website is in. DOWNLOAD
Alexa Sparky
This addon will help you determine the site's popularity. For example, Yahoo! is the most visited site in the world (and still is), Google is 2nd and YouTube is 3rd? Anyway, Cheat Engine is #8,021. AGREE TO TERMS
GooglePreview
GooglePreview, as the name suggests, gives you thumbnails of pages indexed in Google. DOWNLOAD
Link Alert
This is an addon that, when paused over links, will show what type of document it is or what encryption it is. It includes stuff like new windows, PDF, DOC, secure sites, Firefox addons, and many more. DOWNLOAD
Yoono
Yoono is an addon that displays all of your MSN, AIM, ICQ, Y! and other messenger contacts when you hover over a sidebar. It also includes support for Delicious, Myspace and Flickr. DOWNLOAD
Firefox Showcase
Like IE, this addon has the function to display all your current tabs in a thumbnail preview. DOWNLOAD
FireFTP
FireFTP is an addon that is simply an FTP program inside a browser. It is displayed as a new tab. DOWNLOAD
Tip.it Microhelper
For all Runescape fans big and small, here's an addon you will like. Dubbed the Microhelper, it allows access to Quest Help, the Items DB and the Bestiary from the same tab/window. It is in progressive beta, so don't get too excited. Also, it is not compatible with Mac. DOWNLOAD
NoScript
NoScript allows you to control JavaScript on pages and to prevent XSS attacks. This addon is not recommended for inexperienced computer users. DOWNLOAD
Firebug
A set of developer tools that can edit and debug HTML, CSS and more. DOWNLOAD
Greasemonkey
An addon that allows you to customize how a webpage displays. DOWNLOAD
All-in-One Sidebar
This is a sidebar that can switch between sidebar panels, view dialog windows such as downloads, extensions, and more in the sidebar, or view source or websites in the sidebar. DOWNLOAD
Cooliris
Transforms your browser into a 3D world to share photos online (Windows only). DOWNLOAD
McAfee SiteAdvisor
Like WOT, this addon marks sites according to their safety and reliability rating, except you cannot control what it rates it as. There is also a pay for version. AGREE TO TERMS
Flashgot
Like its standalone software counterpart, this piece of software can download all your queued files in one click, and can also download photos, videos and even schedule downloads. DOWNLOAD
New Tab Button on Tab Right
