Restoration allows you to scan your hard drive for files you have deleted. The reason this works is that when you delete a file, it doesn't actually get deleted off of the hard drive. Windows just changes a byte in the file table telling the hard drive that that section of disk can now be overwritten. If that section of hard disk hasn't been overwritten, you can get your file back! However, if that section has been overwritten, this method will not work, so it is best to do it as soon as possible.
Program attached.

That's pretty useful in the past I have deleted thigns I didn't want to.
Is it possible to change some settings on my computer so that when you delete a file the space automatically gets replaced with another installed program?
Somehow I think not :p

The program actually comes with a function to do just that. You can use it to permanently deleted files.

File Scavenger is a nice utility for exact locations, extensions, etc. It's not free but it's worth the money if you absolutely need it:

You search a drive for a given string. It works just like Microsoft search (you can search for all of one file type, etc.).

But this could also work to your disadvantage when someone discovers the midget porn you deleted 5 months ago. Erase files securely with sdelete.

Don't worry, this program also comes with something to completely delete your files, as I have said already.
The people on IRC no longer have to worry if they will be caught looking at cleangirls/iamastupidfag.
