I use CE to debug an appliction, I found an address that I needed. Then I used the "Find out what writes to this address" and I get one instruction "jae ChatWin.dll+21D01F7".I don't know if this instruction can write to memory, it looks like it's just a jump instruction.The other thing I'm confused about is how do I find the base address with this instruction?

It can't. It's probably a string-related instruction (e.g. rep movsb). Look at the instructions around there and you'll find it.

If you want to find a pointer, use the pointer scanner.
