I been playing around with the pointer scanner for the last week and came across an address with the value that makes sense and the pointer address value that doesn't. I'm searching money/credits in the remastered Command and Conquer game and have no issues finding for example the initial credit value of 2000. When I find the pointers, they all have a value unrelated to 2000.
I'll add some examples below with the following format:
[credit value visible in game] : [value of the pointer]
I've been able to determine that [Credits = unit of currency * 65536], but why?
1. What is going on behind the scene/theory that causes this?
2. Is there a way to make the value display in a normal way?
3. What are some methods to approach finding something as simple as money?
Thank you for the reply. I changed the offset of the pointer from 10C to 10E. That worked thank you. As for fast scan, I have it off by default. Is there any other reason the pointer scanner would have suggested the incorrect offset? I've replicated it a few times.
