Hello. I'm looking to find out when the client of an online games loads certain files into memory. I'm not looking to modify these files at all, I simply want to know when they are loaded into memory.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You have to check the module window and step over each line of instructions to see at which point the files are loaded. You will have to analyse file functions from the win32 API.
| Code: |
LoadFileA
LoadFileW
CreateFileA
CreateFileW
|
Just to name a few, but here is the link to the win32 API you can search there for more information about what functions deal with files.

| Thank you for the reply, but I guess I didn't explain myself very well. These are not files that are loaded into memory all the time. Basically in this game, when I'm out exploring the world, I want to know when certain files are loaded into memory (while I'm playing) because that will tell me when I'm somewhat close to a certain object, becuase I'm fairly certain the client doesns't load the files until then

| I think this would be more rendering and loading of objects than a file per-se. In that case you would have to look at reverse engineering the engine. If the engine isn't a well known one then it will make that task a little bit harder by the fact that it's likely no one will have reverse engineered it already, or at least provided some insight into how the engine works.
