|
|
Hi.
I've had this happen with previous versions of CheatEngine, too.
I just upgraded CheatEngine from 7.1 to 7.2. When I double-click a file with the extension .CT, it still opens 7.1.
Is there an easy way to fix this?
It would be great if the installer could do this automatically.
I'm running Windows 8.0 64bit.
Thanks

1- Right click the ".CT" file.
2- Select "Properties" from the drop-down menu (at the bottom).
3- Click "Open with" in "Public" profile.
4- Access the CE 7.2 folder in the redirect folder (Program Files etc.)
5- Select "Cheat Engine" in CE 7.2 folder and confirm.
6- When you return to the "Properties" window, click it; "Apply", "OK" ..
It is the "Open with" procedure in Windows.

Thanks for the reply.
For some weird reason, it's not working.
I can change the default setting - I open the 7.2 folder and double-click the 64bit version of CE (hitting Apply and then OK).
But when I open the CT file, it still opens the 7.1 application...
I've tried the same with "Open With" and picking the default program.

Still not thinking of uninstalling, deleting, 7.1?
Upon uninstalling the previous CE version, your ".CT" file should have a broken icon.
If so, try the first solution I gave again from the "Properties" window.
There is a different problem and you are not able to explain it because you cannot understand it.
If you have time, please follow the steps and move forward.
I'll be around.

I've been working with Windows since version 3.11, and I have about a decade of tech support under my belt. I just had never run into this kind of issue before - when I change the file association, it usually works, and for some reason it does not work here...
Anyway, I uninstalled 7.1 and tried associating the file extension again, and this time it worked.
Thanks for your time.
