I have a pci screamer on the way, and I'm just wondering about cheat engine functionality.
Question 1:
Under downloads I see ce server (which you need for linux), It only lists 6.5, is this correct, and will I run into any problems using this older version? I can use windows, I just prefer linux
pci leech(a popular component of using these hardware devices) can:
Mount live RAM as file [Linux, Windows, macOS Sierra*].
How is cheat engine with scanning files? I see I can open a file. Is this the recommended approach when using hardware devices, or is cheat engine not even the right tool for the job?
Am I able to debug things like this? I've screwed with cheat engine and you can do things like "what writes to this address" can I do this using this hardware device paradigm?

ceserver, it also works on new ce versions
but it does not support file access, but since you're going to have to use wine anyhow for file access, you can ignore it
CE can scan files but it does load the file completely onto memory, so make sure you have enough virtual memory/swap available
debugging: not that i know of. You need CPU access for that instead of just physical memory and capture when debug events happen (interrupt handler or exception handler)

So I got this thing and it's cooler than you could ever imagine. One of the things you can do is mount memory as a virtual file system. Super baller
Take a look at github com /ufrisk/MemProcFS.
When mounted, it looks something like this:

Now I tried to open that vmem file and it didn't work. Cheat engine oom'd although this system should have enough memory. I had a feeling it wasn't going to work, I knew I was probably going to have to go code all this stuff my self if I wanted to play with this. Luckily they have python bindings so it shouldn't be too hard.
I have a feature request though, given that this file is called vmem, I'm going to guess that it's the virtualized address space. It would be amazing if I could use existing cheat tables with this. The value here is against stuff like genshin impact who has kernel level protections for a single player game. I know this opens the flood gates for other clandestine activities but the barrier to entry to these fpga devices is decently high.
You could develop this without access to an FPGA device. I believe there's kernel extensions for MemProcFs and you could run and mount from the same PC.
What do you think is the chance for a feature like this?
