I just got a quick question as I'm new to using cheat engine. The question might seem kind of dumb to some people but I'd rather be safe than sorry but I guess I could also just be over thinking things but anyway.
does cheat engine continue to run in the background after you close out of the application? think of it like how steam still continues to run in the background after you close out of it and you can still see and access it from the task bar and when you close it out from there, there will still be an instance of steam running in the background in the form of steam client web helper that you can only find if you open up the task manager. _________________

No, Cheat Engine closes when you tell it to. You can check via Task Manager to ensure it's closed. The only part of CE that may remain active/alive is the kernel driver if you are using that. _________________
I've seen rare scenarios where CE would not terminate - but these came from it hanging (or improper cleanup/shutdown), which do not quite qualify as normal operation.
As atom0s says, it closes when you close the main window.
