My coding knowledge is very minimal. ELI5 please.

Trying to figure out CE on Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends. I found the address for Gems, but when I try to change it, it'll show the change but won't implement it.

Ex: Current gems in game is 60. I change value to 5000 on Cheat Engine and press enter. Game shows I have 5000, but when I try to cash them in, blacksmith says I don't have enough gems.

What am I doing wrong?

Edit: Changing gold values worked for me.


SOLUTION (step by step for those who are dumb like me but got past the tutorial):

1. Have the value/item quantity you want changed up on your game screen. Otherwise, Cheat Engine won't be able to find it.

2. Value type MUST BE 2 bytes for materials and gems. Gold is 4 bytes.

3. Type in your "Value" box what you currently have. This will be your ([/b Value 1]). Click "First Scan"

4. Tons of addresses will come up most likely. That's ok! Do something that changes the value--doesn't have to be crazy. This will be your ([/b Value 2]).
NOTE: If you don't have enough to spend/use, you'll have to go grind some and then start over from step 1.

5. Type ([/b Value 2]) into "Value" box. Click "Next Scan"

6. Now you should have 2-3 addresses pop up on the left. Double-click all of them. They'll show up in your "Table" below.

7. In the Table below and under "Value" column, double-click the number (should match [/b Value 2]). Change the value to your desired number, and click "OK". This will be your ([/b Value 3]). Do this for every line.
NOTE: There are caps in DW 8 XL. Gems & Materials: 4 digits, Gold: 7 digits

8. Search for ([/b Value 3]) again. Click "Next Scan". This step permanently changes the value instead of faking you out.

9. Play to your heart's content! If you want to keep adding or changing the value, repeat from step 1.


NOTES: Gold, gems, and both materials change addresses every boot of the game.
