Most people believe computers are the future of technological developments, but I believe computers are very near their peak of practical utility. I think biotechnology is where the ongoing futurism lies. Genetic engineering at this stage is just randomly/haphazardly tweaking something until you get a desired result...But eventually biotech will become more accurate/precise, and ultimately DNA and life can be engineered and created through something similar to the computer programming languages of today. Cellular life will become applications created by humans, and will serve as our future technology. Coronavirus has also accelerated the global interest, demand, and economic capital of bioscience and this will lead to unforeseen innovations in the industry.

It already has happened. Designer babies already exist and are alive right now.

The question is, how far will this area of science go. I think Coronavirus has only accelerated research into these things, if you look into biotech companies like Moderna the funding has skyrocketed.

The link you posted is quite different, I'd even say unrelated.
If it were relevant this would not be a prediction, either.
